Spotlight: Petrus
Petrus is eleven and a half hectares at the top of the Pomerol plateau, planted entirely to merlot. Nothing to do with a stylistic choice: it all comes from the soil. A pocket of blue clay holds water and gives it back to the vines little by little, so they come through dry summers without suffering. That is where the density of this merlot comes from, unmatched on the plateau. And it is why the estate has never needed to blend.
On a vineyard this small the harvest is picked in two afternoons, each grape at its own ripeness. The wine ferments in concrete vats, then ages in new barrels. We keep a dozen vintages in the cellar, from 2000 to 2020: some ready to drink now, others with twenty years ahead of them.

Every bottle is kept in our own temperature-controlled cellars, ensuring stability, traceability and optimal conditions from arrival to shipment.
