Château history

Micro-plot of 7,000 m2 planted in 2005 with authentic Tempranillo, known as "Tinto Fino," via massal selection. Density of 7,000 vines per hectare, bush vines (gobelet) on individual stakes. High-altitude Carignan (450 meters) facing due west, extremely late-ripening, planted after the war. First harvest in 2011. Extended ripening for the Tempranillo, harvested manually in crates at the beginning of October. Destemming, followed by a few days of pre-fermentation maceration. Addition of Carignan grapes to provide freshness and tension. Classic vinification, slow fermentation (about two weeks) with light pump-overs and gentle daily punch-downs. Aged in vats on the lees, with frequent aeration to avoid reduction. Bottled after light filtration and minimal SO2. A dark, dense wine. Compact and dense on the palate, simultaneously velvety and… rustic. An unusual, disconcerting wine with a flavorful finish, leaving the mouth feeling fresh and endearing. A unique wine of character.
