Le Rocher des Violettes offers vibrant wines. They feature a frank expression of Chenin, with chiseled acidity and beautiful aromatic complexity. The red wines, particularly those from old-vine Côt, offer a silky texture, fine tannins, and remarkable freshness. The overall balance is always present, with a persistent finish that invites further tasting. A definite aging potential reveals itself over the years.
Le Rocher des Violettes is a wine estate nestled in Montlouis-sur-Loire, in the heart of the Loire Valley. Founded in 2005, it quickly distinguished itself through its artisanal approach and deep respect for the terroir.
Xavier Weisskopf, a passionate winemaker, breathed new life into this vineyard after gaining experience in Burgundy and the Rhône Valley. The estate spans 17 hectares, where Chenin Blanc, the region's iconic grape variety, holds a prominent place. There are also plantings of Côt (Malbec) and Cabernet Franc. Some vines, true treasures, are over 80 years old, testifying to a deep connection with local winemaking history. Le Rocher des Violettes is committed to organic farming, favoring manual plowing and natural treatments with the goal of preserving the ecosystem's balance. The winemaking process is low-intervention, seeking to reveal the authentic expression of the Montlouis-sur-Loire terroir.
