History of the estate
The Domaine Alain Chabanon, situated in the hills of Languedoc, epitomizes a forward-thinking approach and an unwavering pursuit of the genuine expression of the terroir. Guided by Alain Chabanon's wisdom, this estate has garnered global recognition for crafting wines with distinctive character and outstanding quality.
Spanning diverse and challenging terroirs, the vineyard benefits from abundant sunlight and geological richness, resulting in grapes with a unique depth. Alain Chabanon, a dedicated vintner and nature lover, has embraced biodynamic practices to enhance the natural equilibrium of the soils and promote biodiversity.
Guide to the best Wines of France 2013
Unconventional, demanding, and reserved, Alain Chabanon trained under Alain Brumont (Château Montus) in Madiran, as well as in Corsica, before establishing his cellar in Montpeyroux in 1992. We must acknowledge the extent and quality of the work accomplished here, both in the vineyard (healthy viticulture, low yields) and in the cellar - long aging, up to thirty months on the flagship cuvées. Few estates in the region offer such a refined and precise range. We also salute the aging potential of the wines, which has few equals. Always one to two vintages behind the regional production, the entire range is undeniably distinctive. This allowed the estate to earn its second star last year.
