Domaine Lafarge

History of the estate

Michel Lafarge Estate, one of the most renowned in Burgundy since the 19th century, is situated in Volnay, a true family heritage at the heart of Côte de Beaune.
The wines from the Estate are globally acclaimed as wines of a classic Burgundian style; they are dense and robust wines that over time express themselves with precision and elegance. Under the influence of Frédéric Lafarge, Michel's son, the 12 hectares of the estate were fully converted to Biodynamic in 2000.
The idea is to replicate the identity of each of the climates, without artifice; to achieve this, the Estate commits to soil work, harvest at good maturity, vinifications from destemmed bunches, fermentations from indigenous yeasts, gentle extractions, precise and minimally marked aging in barrels of several wines, ...
Today, Chlotilde has joined her father Frédéric in the operation to perpetuate the tradition and contribute her part.
The Lafarge estate continues to vinify its grapes in the same style, with dense and structured red wines, but now they are becoming softer with ripe and fine tannins, and refining with great elegance, without ever losing their amazing aging potential. The white wines, equally dense, have become more accessible, with finer aromas, of terroir, butter, brioche while maintaining a beautiful mineral expression.

Millésimes Tasting Note:

Jos Pralle à propos de ce vin : "Fruits rouges et fraîcheur, à boire et à savourer sans réfléchir."
