Pomerol Bordeaux Red
Wine experts and those knowledgeable about the Pomerol AOC unanimously agree that Château Lafleur is classified as one of the finest Pomerols, alongside the sublime Pétrus. It is less well-known than other prestigious châteaux in the appellation, due to its extremely limited production. Only a fortunate few have the opportunity to savor this delightful nectar, renowned for its voluptuous and sensual style, with silky and velvety tannins.
Similar to most chateaus in Pomerol, the history of Lafleur is not very old. Around 1870, the widow Greloud bequeathed to her son Henry the estate "le Gay". He selected the finest plots from this estate to establish a new vineyard: Lafleur. The wine from this new estate quickly gained fame and is indeed considered the third best Pomerol, following Petrus and Vieux Certan.
The vineyard was later purchased by André Robin, who chose to prioritize quality over quantity. His successors, Jacques and Sylvie Guinaudeau, representing the 5th generation, took over the vineyard in 1982, which was then being farmed. In 2002, François Janoueix, a seasoned wine merchant and winemaker, took over the management of the estate and leveraged the quality of this wonderful terroir to offer us long-lasting wines.
