A touch strict and firm, yet with good concentration, the 2020 Château Les Grands Chênes offers quality aromatics of red and black currants, cedarwood, and tobacco. With medium-bodied richness, a tight, narrow mouthfeel, and building tannins, give bottles 2-3 years and it will hopefully flesh out.

The 2020 Les Grands Chênes is surprisingly backward on the nose, opening gradually to reveal a mixture of blackberry and raspberry fruit; hints of licorice develop with aeration. The oak is nicely integrated here. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins that frame the crisp black fruit. There is that soupçon of licorice once again, and a light and enjoyable menthol note on the finish. Give this 3–4 years in bottle if you can.

The 2020 Les Grands Chênes exhibits aromas of rich berries, licorice and toasty oak, followed by a medium to full-bodied, rich and rather extracted palate.
