Domaine La Grange Tiphaine
History of the estate
LA GRANGE TIPHAINE estate is a family vineyard managed by two passionate individuals, Damien DELECHENEAU and his wife Coralie, who have a deep love for viticulture and the land.
This vineyard, dating back to the early 20th century, was initially intended for mixed farming. Tobacco, grains, fruit trees, and vines were all grown on the property, with only 6 hectares set aside for vine cultivation. Despite this, all the production was bottled at the estate and the wines were primarily sold abroad.
It wasn't until 1970, when Jackie DELECHENEAU (Damien's father) took over LA GRANGE TIPHAINE estate, that he put an end to mixed farming and initiated a change in the grape varieties. He planted the first vines of Cabernet Franc, Gamay, Chenin, and Cot, thereby greatly enhancing the potential of future vintages.
In the following years, the estate expanded, and concurrently, Damien DELECHENEAU obtained his oenology degree in Bordeaux and honed his skills through numerous internships in France and abroad. It was only after several years that he returned to the family estate, armed with vast experience, and with the idea of significantly advancing the vineyard.
Coralie and Damien learned during their training how to work the land and bring out the character of the terroir; for this, it is essential to preserve and manage the production with respect for nature. Thus, in 2002, when he took over the management of the vineyard, he gradually transformed the tools and the way of working, and in 2008, together with his partner, they shifted the vineyard towards entirely healthy production, culminating in the receipt of the Ecocert certification (organic farming) in 2011.
Wishing to offer a more precise interpretation of their terroir, they continued their quality approach, eventually earning the Biodyvin label in 2017 (biodynamic farming).
Today
Thanks to this colossal effort, the LA GRANGE TIPHAINE estate is a leading reference in the Loire. The wines from the estate are precise, refined, elegant, and above all, they invite one to drink. The vintages have remarkable depth and subtlety. The white wines, made from Chenin, offer very aromatic bouquets, without ever being overly exuberant; the reds captivate with their floral and small red berry aromas, and the tannins are delicate and well-crafted.
