The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Fonteny 1er Cru has a different profile from the La Brunelle. It features red fruit infused with scents of orange blossom and sous-bois , with a hint of menthol in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, pastille-like purity and a gentle grip. It evinces their lower extraction ethos with a very harmonious lace-like finish. This is very promising.

The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Fonteny exhibits aromas of smoky berries, cherries and incense, followed by a medium-bodied, taut and compact palate that's bright and clean but lacks a little plenitude.
