Domaine Yves Cuilleron

Domaine Yves Cuilleron

Domaine Yves Cuilleron offers wines that are both dense and fresh. We appreciate their balance, flavorful substance, and tannins that are present yet silky. The aromatic profile is often complex, with a lovely freshness. The finish on the palate is persistent. The red wines, often from the Côte-Rôtie or Saint-Joseph appellations, have definite aging potential, while the whites express a beautiful minerality.

Château history

Domaine Yves Cuilleron, an iconic figure of the northern Rhône Valley, is located in Chavanay. Its history is one of meteoric rise, driven by the passion and exacting standards of a man who has succeeded in elevating his wines to the pinnacle.
The estate's history began in 1920, when Claude Cuilleron, Yves' grandfather, established the farm. After the Second World War, he made the decision to market his production in bottles, anticipating the boom in Rhône Valley wines. In the 1960s, Antoine Cuilleron, Yves' uncle, took up the family torch. Initially destined for a career in mechanics, Yves Cuilleron, nurtured by a family upbringing where gastronomy and wine held a place of honor, ultimately turned toward viticulture and oenology. In 1987, he took over the estate, which at the time comprised 3.5 hectares in Condrieu and Saint-Joseph. Two years later, he acquired his first plots in Côte-Rôtie, marking the beginning of a love affair with this prestigious appellation. A visionary, Yves Cuilleron undertook the construction of a winery in Verlieu in 1992, which was expanded in 1999, allowing him to craft wines in his own image. Driven by constant self-questioning, he launched a vast reconstruction program for his winery in 2007, entirely rethinking his production facilities.
Over the years, successive vineyard acquisitions have considerably expanded Domaine Yves Cuilleron, making it one of the most important producers in Condrieu, with an extensive range that also includes Saint-Joseph, Saint-Péray, and Cornas.
