The E. Guigal estate offers wines with concentrated substance and tannins that are present yet elegant. They possess a beautiful freshness, a distinct balance, and a complex aromatic profile, often characterized by dark fruits and spices. The finish on the palate is persistent, a hallmark of high-quality wines. The red wines have significant aging potential, particularly in Côte-Rôtie, where Syrah often dominates the blend.
The E. Guigal estate, a jewel of the Rhône Valley, is firmly anchored in Ampuis, a village where viticulture has flourished since Roman times. It was in 1946 that Étienne Guigal founded his estate there, marking the beginning of a family adventure dedicated to the excellence of Rhône wines.
In 1961, Marcel Guigal succeeded his father, breathing new momentum into the company. His role proved decisive in the estate's rise, notably through the acquisition of Vidal-Fleury in 1984, a major event that considerably broadened Guigal's horizons. Under his leadership, the estate acquired the Château d'Ampuis and elevated its Côte-Rôtie cuvées—such as La Mouline, La Landonne, and La Turque—to iconic status. These wines, now among the most prized in the region, bear witness to the expertise and passion that drive the Guigal family. It is also worth mentioning the Condrieu La Doriane, the Château d'Ampuis cuvée, the Vigne de l'Hospice in Saint-Joseph, and the Ex-Voto cuvées in Hermitage.
Today, Philippe Guigal, representing the third generation, continues the family legacy with passion and precision. From the cellars of Ampuis, the estate crafts the finest northern appellations with extreme care, without overlooking a few southern gems.
