Le Vieux Donjon

Le Vieux Donjon

Le Vieux Donjon offers ample and concentrated Châteauneuf-du-Pape reds, often dominated by Grenache. They feature a silky texture, present yet elegant tannins, and remarkable freshness. The aromatic profile is complex, with notes of ripe red and black fruits, sweet spices, and garrigue. These wines have significant aging potential, while remaining accessible in their youth.

Château history

Le Vieux Donjon is a family estate rooted in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The history of the estate is one of slow and patient evolution. For several generations, the Michel family cultivated their land and sold their production to wine merchants.
A decisive turning point began in the early 1980s, when Lucien Michel and his wife, Marie-José Michel, made the decision to develop the property's viticultural potential. The vineyard then covered an area of approximately 13 hectares. Their efforts quickly bore fruit, and the wines of Le Vieux Donjon gained notoriety among connoisseurs. Since 2008, their daughter, Claire Michel, has been involved in the operation, followed in 2013 by her brother, François. Together, they manage the estate, thus perpetuating a family legacy and a patiently acquired expertise.
