Jeb Dunnuck Tasting Note

From a very difficult year, the 2017 Champagne Vintage Rose is co-fermented from a blend made at harvest time. It pours a pristine bright salmon color and shimmers in the glass, offering notes of peaches, fresh berries, white pepper, and Mirabel. The palate has surprisingly good tension and lovely focus. A superb and more gastronomic wine, it has a hint of warmth, but it is more the spice that comes through. Drink 2025-2045.

About the Producer

The Louis Roederer estate is an iconic Champagne house, remaining one of the last great family-owned and independent signatures. A pioneer, the Roederer family invested early on in a vast, estate-owned vineyard, now cultivated with extreme precision in the heart of the Marne’s finest crus. From this remarkable terroir are born champagnes of impressive consistency and a refined, instantly recognizable style. Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, Chef de Caves, perpetuates this quest for excellence while infusing an innovative dynamic. The Louis Roederer house is distinguished by a prestigious range, whose cuvées embody elegance and complexity. Among the jewels are the Cristal Millésimé Brut and the Cristal Brut Rosé Millésimé, symbols of unparalleled craftsmanship. The Vintage Brut and the Brut Rosé Millésimé complete this offering, alongside more recent creations like the Collection 244 Brut, which testifies to the estate's spirit of innovation. More exclusive, the Coteaux Champenois "Hommage à Camille" reveals a rare parcel-based expression, elevating the diversity of the Champagne terroirs. Among the most sought-after cuvées are Louis Roederer Cristal Millésimé Brut, Louis Roederer Cristal Brut Rosé Millésimé, and Louis Roederer Vintage Brut—useful benchmarks for understanding the house's identity.
