Domaine Saumaize is an essential benchmark of the Mâconnais, rooted in the village of Vergisson. Here, the art of letting the terroir speak for itself is a family tradition. Jacques and Nathalie Saumaize, now joined by their son Anthony, craft wines of great purity, seeking the most precise expression of each plot. The estate particularly excels in the Saint-Véran and Pouilly-Fuissé appellations, brilliantly revealing the minerality of the limestone soils typical of the region. Domaine Saumaize wines are distinguished by their ripe fruit, vibrant energy, and precise, immediately recognizable style. Among the flagship cuvées are the Pouilly-Fuissé Le Haut de la Roche, an ample and complex wine, as well as the single-vineyard Saint-Vérans, including Les Cras and En Crèches, which are authentic reflections of their respective terroirs. The Pouilly-Fuissé "Sur la Roche," sourced from a remarkable terroir, embodies the estate's expertise and has been recognized as a Premier Cru—a fitting reward for such meticulous work. Domaine Saumaize also offers a Mâcon-Vergisson Sur la Roche, completing a range of white Burgundies acclaimed for their quality and their ability to express the nuances of each terroir.
