Wine Advocate Tasting Note

Tasted from bottle, the 2016 Pouilly-Vinzelles Les Quarts is more expressive than when I encountered it during its maturation, offering up a projected bouquet of peach, honeysuckle and verbena that's beautifully pure and fragrant. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with delicate textural gloss and a bright line of succulent acidity, concluding with a sapid, mouthwatering finish. Even though the nose is wide open, in the mouth this is still a little wound up after its bottling, and another six months of bottle age should reveal more texture and dimension. The Bret family own fully four hectares in the upper part of the climat Les Quarts, their vines averaging 70 years of age, and this is the domaine’s emblematic cuvée.
