Vinous Tasting Note

The 2018 Alverne has an attractive bouquet of generous, well-defined red berry fruit intermingling with sous-bois , leather and black truffle; it blossoms nicely with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a dark-chocolate-tinged opening. I am concerned that the oak is not quite simpatico with the fruit here. The finish is pleasant, but dominated by the cooperage at the moment. Let’s see how this shows in a couple of years.
