Vinous Tasting Note

(55% merlot and 45% cabernet franc): Deep, glass-staining purple-ruby. Knockout nose is redolent of fresh cassis, plum, minerals and sweet, spicy oak. Dense and suave, with very precise flavors of plum, blackberry, blueberry and minerals. Finishes very long, with repeating notes of blueberry and violets and chocolatey oak. The use of oak here isn't shy, but at least the wood is well integrated. One of the better wines of the vintage. Readers probably know that Angelus was finally elevated to Saint-Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classe "A" status, a testament to the work and dedication of owner Hubert de Bouard de Laforest.

About the Producer

Château Angelus, Premier Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion, is a name that resonates with the history of this prestigious appellation. Legend has it that the bells of the three surrounding churches once guided the work of the winemakers, a spiritual heritage that still marks the estate today. The de Boüard de Laforest family, firmly established since the end of the 18th century, watches over this exceptional cru. Today, Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal embodies the eighth generation, breathing new momentum into the estate. The vineyard benefits from a remarkable terroir, where clay-limestone and clay-sand-limestone soils fully express their potential. The grape varieties, with a significant proportion of Cabernet Franc, contribute to the elegance and complexity of Château Angelus wines. In addition to its grand vin, the estate also offers Le Carillon de l'Angelus, providing another perspective on this unique Saint-Émilion terroir, as well as Tempo d'Angelus. It is a beautiful family story that continues to be written, driven by the passion and ambition to reveal the full richness of this cru. Among the most sought-after cuvées are Château Angelus, Le Carillon de l'Angelus, and Château Angelus 'Hommage à Elisabeth Bouchet'—essential benchmarks for understanding the identity of the estate.
