Jeb Dunnuck Tasting Note

The 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc is terrific. Based on 25% Grenache Blanc, 25% Clairette, 20% Clairette Rose, 20% Bourboulenc, and the rest Grenache Gris, it has a pure, clean nose of dried pineapple, orange blossom, and spicy, white flower-like nuances. It's balanced, medium-bodied, has terrific purity, and a clean, lengthy finish. I'd be thrilled to drink a bottle over the coming 2-4 years, and it should have an interesting evolution beyond that as well.

About the Producer

Domaine Bosquet des Papes, an iconic signature of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, embodies the excellence of a family tradition rooted in the Rhône Valley. The Boiron family, guardians of the estate, crafts wines with palpable passion, marrying respect for ancestral traditions with a contemporary approach to viticulture. Under the guidance of Nicolas Boiron, the estate is committed to revealing the intrinsic elegance of its wines, while magnifying their generosity and authenticity. The Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines from Domaine Bosquet des Papes are distinguished by a complex aromatic bouquet, where notes of garrigue and spices mingle harmoniously with a fruit expression of great purity, supported by a persistent freshness. The Tradition cuvée, a true standard-bearer for the estate, is particularly prized by connoisseurs, as is the Chante le Merle Vieilles Vignes cuvée, a reflection of an exceptional terroir. It is said that the estate's name evokes a former passage for the Popes of Avignon, adding a historical dimension to this place steeped in tradition. The single-parcel cuvées A la Gloire de Mon Grand-Père and Les 7 de Pignan, along with La Folie, complete a range of refined and highly expressive wines.
