1er Grand cru classé Pauillac Bordeaux Red

€650,00 / 75cl inc. VAT

From the moment it is opened, this 2003 Latour displays a solar breadth, the signature of a hot vintage that gives it a generous volume. The maturity reveals itself with notes of candied black cherry and sweet pepper, supported by remarkable structure and a silky texture that stretches out with elegant complexity.

Vinous Tasting Note

Good full ruby. Pure, precise aromas of currant, plum, flowers and red licorice. Suave, intensely flavored and sharply delineated in the middle palate. Wonderfully solid but also unusually pliant and round for an infant Latour. Even more impressive on the back half, where the wine expands and explodes, saturating the palate with classic salty, iodiney flavors and finishing with great grip. Not as obviously brilliant on the attack as the 2003 Montrose, but as strong on the back end as any wine of this vintage.

About the Producer

Château Latour, Premier Cru Classé of Pauillac, is much more than a name: it is an emblem of the Médoc. Its history is written in the stones of its tower, a remnant of an era when it guided ships along the Gironde. Long owned by the de Ségur family, including the famous "Prince of Vines," the estate has traversed the centuries while maintaining its prestige. Today, under the impetus of François Pinault and his passionate teams, Château Latour continues to write the history of the great wines of Bordeaux. Its 47-hectare vineyard, located in the heart of the "Enclos," produces wines of rare depth and complexity. The powerful tannic structure, the signature of this grand cru, gives it a remarkable capacity for aging. One finds in Latour wines aromas of blackcurrant, leather, and hazelnut—testaments to a unique terroir. In addition to its illustrious Premier Grand Cru Classé, the estate also offers Les Forts de Latour, a second wine of great elegance, as well as Le Pauillac de Latour, a more accessible expression of the Latour style. The estate works notably with appellations such as Premiers Crus, which consistently extend its signature.
