In 2023, the Macon Milly Lamartine from Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon displays a vibrant freshness typical of this vintage. The nose opens with notes of zesty citrus and a frank minerality, reminiscent of gunflint. The palate, taut and of beautiful purity, suggests a certain potential for evolution.

Wine Commentary
World-renowned for the quality of the Chardonnay it produces in Meursault, Dominique Lafon has expanded his horizons to the Mâconnais region since 1999, much to the delight of wine enthusiasts!
Just like the Comtes Lafon estate, the Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon estate follows the principles of biodynamics. The respect for the vines and the environment is essential and results in very pure wines with great liveliness. Their wines from Mâcon and Viré-Clessé are undeniably among the best in the appellation. Not to be missed!
History of the estate
The origin of the estate does not begin in Burgundy, but in the southwest, where Jules Joseph Barthélémy Lafon was born in 1864. In 1894, he married a Burgundian, Marie Boch, from a family of merchants in Meursault. As the mayor of Meursault, he decided to restore the tradition of the end-of-harvest meal, which remains one of the must-attend events in the region to this day. An entrepreneur with a passion for wine, he acquired several ideally located parcels that also complemented the existing Boch heritage vineyards (grand cru and premier cru "La Goutte D'or" and even "Le Montrachet").
Joseph Lafon's children did not share their father's interest in wine, and it was his grandson, René Lafon, who took up the mantle in 1956. He refurbished the vineyard, replanted, and gradually decided to bottle a larger portion of the harvest.
Dominique Lafon and his brother Bruno took over from their father, René, in 1984. They decided to terminate the sharecropping leases, and since 1993 the 13.8 hectares of vineyards have been directly operated by the estate.
Convinced that the Mâconnais vineyard conceals great terroirs, Dominique Lafon, a virtuoso of chardonnay in Meursault, embarked on the Mâconnais adventure in 1999 by creating the estate "Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon". From the start, he introduced organic and biodynamic farming to the vineyard management. In the cellar, the winemaking is traditional and parcel-based. The maturing is mainly done in vats and demi-muids. Just like his other estate, he seeks the pure expression of each terroir and strives to give his wines, length, vivacity, and purity.
Today...
The estate now spans 21 hectares and extends over the Milly-Lamartine, Bussière, Chardonnay, Uchizy, and Viré-Clessé sectors.
