Mas Conscience
History of the estate
Founded in 2003 in the town of Saint Jean de Fos, Mas Conscience stretches across 10 hectares of vineyards that are tended to through organic and biodynamic practices. The estate boasts no less than 8 varieties of grapes, planted across diverse soils within the "Terrasses du Larzac" designation, including a limestone plateau in Puéchabon, clay-limestone terrain in Aniane, and areas of smooth stones in Saint Jean de Fos.
The wines of Mas Conscience are distinguished by their ethereal delicacy and elegance, setting them apart from the typically bolder wines of the region, with an emphasis on vibrancy and enjoyment.
The estate is experiencing a rejuvenation under the new ownership of Roman Kocholl, hailing from Germany, who is committed to preserving and elevating Mas Conscience. He has thoroughly revamped the team, appointing Audrey Bonnet Koenig as the estate's General Manager.
<b>What is Conscience?
A timeless tale recounts that when monks from the Abbey of Saint Guilhem du Desert traveled from one village to another in search of donations, the villagers were encouraged to give their contributions "with a clear conscience."
Back then, these donations frequently consisted of wines and olive oils. These offerings were transported in jars on the backs of mules. As time passed, these earthenware jars from Saint Jean de Fos became known as "conscience.
