PICHON COMTESSE DE LALANDE 2014

2ème Grand cru classé Pauillac Bordeaux Red

€125,00 / 75cl inc. VAT | Limited availability

In 2014, Pichon Comtesse De Lalande took advantage of an exceptional autumn to shape a profile of great distinction, with a texture that is already delicately patinated. The nose opens with fresh blackberry and fine licorice, carried by a mineral touch that stretches the tasting toward a slender and particularly harmonious finish. A bottle in full evolution, currently blossoming but solidly built to face the years ahead.

Jeb Dunnuck Tasting Note

Showing the hallmark elegance and seductiveness of this terrific estate, the 2014 Pichon Longueville Comtesse De Lalande is deeply colored (especially in the vintage) and delivers a heavenly bouquet of crème de cassis, ripe plums, graphite, cedar pencil, roasted coffee, and tons of building minerality and liquid rock-like nuances. Incredibly pure, textured, full-bodied, and with a seamless integration of its fruit, tannin, and acidity, it’s already approachable but will keep for two to three decades.

About the Producer

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, a prestigious Second Cru Classé of Pauillac, is a name that resonates with elegance. The estate’s history is intimately linked to the figure of Comtesse Virginie de Lalande, whose influence still leaves its mark on the wines today. Now owned by the Louis Roederer house, this Pauillac Grand Cru continues its constant quest for excellence. The wines of Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande are distinguished by a style that is both refined and accessible, a singular interpretation of its terroir. Merlot, the dominant grape variety, provides a silky texture and vibrant fruitiness, contributing to the wines' immediate charm and aging potential. In addition to the famous grand vin Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, the estate produces La Réserve de la Comtesse, a second wine that elegantly expresses the richness of the Pauillac appellation. Legend has it that the Comtesse, attached to her roots, had English roses planted in the château's gardens, adding a touch of romance to this exceptional place. The estate crafts wines within the Deuxièmes Crus appellation, extending its signature with consistency.
