TROPLONG MONDOT 1er Grand cru B classé Saint-Emilion Bordeaux rouge 2011

Red

€98,00 / 75cl inc. VAT

Despite a more delicate 2011 vintage, Troplong Mondot shows great poise and remarkable finesse. Ripe black cherry mingles with notes of noble undergrowth and a hint of sweet pepper, all carried by a silky structure. The overall balance of this Saint-Émilion 1er Grand Cru Classé B suggests a harmonious evolution.

Wine Advocate Tasting Note

A sleeper of the vintage, the second wine from Christine Valette’s highly acclaimed estate, Troplong Mondot, the 2011 Mondot is a beauty. Abundant notes of espresso roast, mocha and fleshy Merlot dominate the aromatics, and give the wine a seductive, succulent flavor profile. Medium-bodied and surprisingly rich, round and juicy, this is pure seduction. Drink it over the next decade. It was with great sadness and grief that I learned of proprietor Christine Valette’s passing on March 29, 2014 at entirely too young an age.
