    Vinous Tasting Note

    The 1997 Vosne-Romanée Aux Reignots 1er Cru is definitely a wine that surprised everyone, punching far above its weight. The nose is unequivocally superior to the '99 with a mixture of red and black fruit, hints of bergamot. Fine delineation and poise. The palate is medium-bodied with silky tannins and a taut line of acidity. Very harmonious, this feels like a "transparent" Aux Reignots with a sustained finish. Glorious! Tasted at Christie's Bouchard Père's pre-auction dinner at Noble Rot Mayfair.
