Château history

Domaine de la Bongran, anchored in the heart of the Mâconnais, is a family estate renowned for its expressive white wines. Located in the communes of Viré and Clessé, the estate spans approximately twenty hectares.
The history of the estate is inseparable from the figure of Jean Thévenet, an iconic winemaker of the region. Committed to local winemaking traditions, he successfully evolved practices while respecting the environment. The vineyard is now certified organic, a step that reflects the estate's commitment to sustainable viticulture. Domaine de la Bongran is particularly well-known for its Chardonnay cuvées, some of which are produced from grapes affected by noble rot.
