Jeb Dunnuck Tasting Note

Salmon-colored with a tinge of copper, the 2009 Champagne Dom Ruinart Rosé has the same base as the Blanc, but with the 15% addition of red wine, and has 4 grams per liter of dosage. Floral and exuberant with springy freshness, it opens to aromas of fresh peach, pressed flowers, and rocky earth. It takes time to open in the glass, but the palate is supple and soft, with medium body and a touch of warmth on the finish. It’s a bit more subtle compared to the Blanc De Blancs Extra Brut, but it’s very pretty as it opens. Drink 2024-2040. Disgorged July 2018.

About the Producer

The Champagne Ruinart estate, an illustrious house founded in 1729, is a historic name in the Champagne region. The visionary intuition of Dom Thierry Ruinart found concrete incarnation thanks to his nephew Nicolas, who made quality and refinement the pillars of the house. Anchored in the heart of Champagne, Ruinart has traversed the centuries by cultivating a tradition of excellence, becoming an essential benchmark. Subsequent generations have perpetuated this legacy, always placing high standards at the center of their champagne production. The house offers a range of prestigious cuvées, including the famous Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs, a pure Chardonnay of great finesse and rare elegance. Also featured is the Dom Ruinart Rosé, a delicate blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vinified as red wine, as well as the Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Brut, an emblematic expression of the house's savoir-faire. An anecdote tells that Ruinart was among the first houses to export its wines in bottles, breaking with the tradition of transporting them in barrels. The "R de Ruinart" Brut completes this range, offering an accessible and consistently elegant interpretation of the Ruinart style.
