About the Producer

Domaine Blain-Gagnard, a prestigious signature of Chassagne-Montrachet, embodies Burgundian excellence. The history of this family estate began in the 1980s, when Jean-Marc Blain and Claudine Gagnard united their vineyards. Jean-Marc Blain, a passionate artisan, crafts wines of great finesse from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir cultivated with care. The estate spans some twenty appellations, with a predilection for Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru, notably the Caillerets and La Boudriotte climats, where the terroir expresses itself fully. Blain-Gagnard also excels in the interpretation of Grand Crus, with special mention for the Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru and the Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, wines of remarkable depth and complexity. One also finds very fine Volnay Premier Cru, such as Pitûres and Champans, which reveal another facet of the estate's expertise. The wines of Domaine Blain-Gagnard are particularly appreciated for their harmonious balance and their ability to reflect the unique identity of each climat. An anecdote tells that certain plots of the estate were once cultivated by monks, thus perpetuating a centuries-old winemaking tradition. Among the most sought-after cuvées are Domaine Blain-Gagnard Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, Domaine Blain-Gagnard Montrachet Grand Cru, and Domaine Blain-Gagnard Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru—useful benchmarks for understanding the identity of the house.
