NOTE : 92 - 93 / 100
This Marojallia 2018 is really dense and rich with a very bright and vivid palate. Medium to full body. Muscular. Tannic.
NOTE : 17 / 20
70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot.
Very dark purple. Hugely intense. Utterly unlike my idea of Margaux but many people will like it, probably. Big and round and polished. You could drink this already. Extreme wine but you have to admire the combination of approachability and intensity. Clean finish. Pretty damned snazzy. Not up my street but I do admire it.
NOTE : 92 - 94 / 100
A rough blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot brought up in one-third new oak, the 2018 Château Marojallia is a beautiful Margaux that has the classic elegance and complexity of the appellation. Terrific notes of cassis, blueberries, kirsch, spice box, and flowers all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, pretty, elegant 2018 that shows both the sunny and elegant style of the vintage remarkably well. It has subtle background oak and is going to benefit from short-term cellaring, but it's an impressive wine that's in the same league as the both the 2015 and 2016.
NOTE : 92 - 94+ / 100
This vineyard is situated between Le Tertre and Monbrison in the parish of Arsac on deep, gravelly soils. It is planted at a high density of 6,500-10,000 vines per hectare. The average age of the vines for this section was 60 years old in 2018. It is aging in one-third new French oak barrels, one-third in second year barrels and the rest in vats. The blend is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot, and it has 14.5% alcohol. Deep purple-black in color, the 2018 Marojallia is a little reticent to begin and then, with coaxing, reveals fragrant rose hip tea, cedar chest, fallen leaves and cinnamon stick scents over a core of black cherry compote, warm cassis and plum pudding. Full-bodied and decadently fruited, the palate has a plush frame and just enough freshness supporting the generous fruit, finishing long and spicy.
