The 2016 Volnay 1er Cru Clos de la Bousse d'Or was showing a little more new oak than the other premier crus (around 30% new), but it is nicely integrated with the blackberry and cassis fruit, scents of crushed violets surfacing with aeration in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe red cherry and cranberry flavors, fine, edgy tannin and good terroir expression with a dash of white pepper and spice toward the lively finish. One of my favorite Volnays from the domaine, this should age well over the next 12-15 years.
While there is a whiff of VA it is more subtle while the aromatic profile is quite similar to that of regular cuvée save for the face that, like the En Caillerets - Amphore, the aromas are much more restrained and seemingly cooler plus there is no wood influence. There is a really lovely, indeed lilting mouth feel to the energetic and beautifully well-detailed flavors that deliver excellent length on the balanced finish. I suspect that the VA is sufficiently subtle that most readers would not be unduly bothered by it. 93/2026+
Histoire du domaine
Patrick Landanger exprime à merveille, depuis 1997, toute la beauté et la richesse des terroirs de Bourgogne. Sur près de 17 hectares, ce vignoble de renom magnifie le chardonnay et le pinot noir avec son travail des vignes en biodynamie et une vinification biocontrôlée.
Cela donne des vins très purs avec une dominante de fruit, reflétant parfaitement leur climat. Avec une fraîcheur nette et une magnifique concentration, on peut affirmer sans retenue que le style du domaine de la Pousse d'Or représente l'avenir des vins de Bourgogne.
