Château de Beaucastel Beaucastel 2001

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rhone Valley Red

€100,00 / 75cl inc. VAT | Limited availability

In 2001, Beaucastel delivered a performance of great serenity, where the year's climate provided a fresh framework and a structure of remarkable poise. This Châteauneuf-du-Pape, mellowed by time, now reveals a complex bouquet of cedar, fine spices, and ripe black fruit, supported by perfectly integrated tannins. A bottle that has reached an ideal plateau of maturity, whose noble length bears witness to the greatness of its terroir.

Millésimes Tasting Note:

The nose is immediately very expressive and dominated by evolving aromas. Leather, blond tobacco, and hints of tar are perceived beneath a fruity backdrop of cherry puree. The palate is round and well-balanced, with a lovely sweetness enveloping fine and mature tannins. It exhibits a rather tertiary profile that evolves towards notes of scrubland and spices, resulting in a very refined and extremely complex wine. This wine is at its peak, with a long finish that concludes with hints of licorice.

About the Producer

Château de Beaucastel, a flagship estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, shines across the southern Rhône Valley. The history of this place is intimately linked to the Perrin family, who acquired it at the beginning of the 20th century, instilling a vision that would propel the estate to the summit. Today, Jean-Pierre Perrin and his son Marc perpetuate the family legacy, cultivating this iconic vineyard according to the principles of biodynamics. The château is renowned for its powerful and complex red wines, masterful interpretations of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The Hommage à Jacques Perrin cuvée, the estate's crown jewel, embodies the excellence found in every bottle. Beaucastel also distinguishes itself with its highly expressive white wines, including the Roussanne Vieilles Vignes cuvée, a rare wine particularly sought after by connoisseurs. The Côtes du Rhône Coudoulet de Beaucastel, another wine produced by the estate, offers a more accessible approach to the Beaucastel style, while maintaining the same exacting standards of quality. Beaucastel wines are built for aging, gaining aromatic complexity over the years, a testament to an exceptional terroir. Among the most closely followed cuvées are Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grand Cuvée Hommage à Jacques Perrin, and Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Roussanne Vieilles Vignes—useful benchmarks for understanding the identity of the house.
