Chapoutier Barbe Rac Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vallée du Rhône Rouge 2009

Rhône Valley red Châteauneuf-du-Pape

€80,00 / 150cl inc. VAT | Limited availability

In this sunny and generous vintage, the Chapoutier Barbe Rac 2009 flourishes today with a superb aromatic fullness. This Châteauneuf-du-Pape, mellowed by seventeen years of aging, reveals a complex bouquet of cedar and fine spices, supported by ripe black fruit that is still very much present. On the palate, the substance relies on a fresh structure and melted tannins that stretch the finish with an elegant persistence.

Jeb Dunnuck Tasting Note

Made from 100% Grenache from the Barbe d'Asne lieu-dit on the western side of the appellation and brought up all in concrete, the 2009 Châteauneuf Du Pape Barbe Rac is gorgeous, showing darker cherries, spice, flowers, and loamy earth-like notes. Medium to full-bodied, balanced, and incredibly textured on the palate, it has a seamless, beautifully satisfying style that’s just a joy to drink today. While mature, it has another decade or more of prime drinking ahead. Drink: 2025-2034.
