Vinous Tasting Note

Superripe nose offers peach nectar and minerals, plus a toasty oak component that follows onto the palate. Fat, lush and broad, with outstanding volume and considerable power. But this very young, dry, backward wine is not yet expressing itself. Finishes with almost painful length and a distinctly tannic impression.

About the Producer

Domaine des Comtes Lafon, an essential benchmark in Meursault, has embodied Burgundian excellence for several generations. Its history is defined by the figure of Jules Lafon, who profoundly shaped the estate. Located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, this family estate is now in the hands of Pierre and Léa Lafon, who continue to elevate the terroirs they have inherited. Primarily planted with Chardonnay, the estate excels in crafting white wines of rare elegance, among which are the famous Meursaults. The Meursault Clos de la Barre is undoubtedly the iconic cuvée, alongside the premier crus Meursault Charmes, Meursault Perrières, and Meursault Genevrières, all magnificent expressions of the diversity of Meursault’s climats. Very fine red wines are also produced in Volnay, notably the Volnay Santenots-du-Milieu and Volnay Champans cuvées. The family’s entrepreneurial spirit has extended to the Mâconnais with the creation of Les Héritiers des Comtes Lafon, which offers a Mâcon-Bussières "Le Monsard," a wine full of freshness and accessibility. A historical curiosity: the family lived in the Château de Meursault for a long time before dedicating themselves fully to the development of their own estate.
