Vinous Tasting Note

The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet Les Perrières 1er Cru offers lime, nettle and crushed stone notes on the nose, tightly coiled at first but opening nicely with aeration. The palate is a little reductive at the moment, just lacks a bit of bite and doesn't quite match the aromatics, dipping prematurely at the finish line and leaving me wanting more. Again, I prefer the 2024 compared to this vintage.

About the Producer

Domaine Jacques Carillon, a benchmark in Puligny-Montrachet, has its roots deep in the heart of Burgundy, with a family history dating back to the 16th century. It is said that the estate’s emblem was inspired by an engraving adorning a cellar stone from the 17th century, bearing witness to a long winemaking tradition. After sharing his family’s expertise, Jacques Carillon founded his own estate in 2010, bringing a personal vision to his wines. His whites, produced from meticulously cultivated plots, brilliantly express the terroir of Puligny-Montrachet. The estate excels in its interpretation of this prestigious appellation, notably through its Premiers Crus Les Champs Canet and Les Referts, wines sought after for their elegance and complexity. The Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru from Domaine Jacques Carillon is an iconic cuvée, acclaimed for its depth and finesse. The estate’s wines are distinguished by their harmonious balance and expressive minerality, qualities that make them benchmarks for lovers of great white Burgundies. Each tasting is an invitation to explore the authenticity and refinement of Jacques Carillon’s wines. Among the most closely followed cuvées are Domaine Jacques Carillon Puligny-Montrachet, Domaine Jacques Carillon Les Perrieres, and Domaine Jacques Carillon Bienvenues-Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru—useful reference points for understanding the house's identity.
